Nina is a partner who focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts, and before arbitral panels.  Nina’s practice focuses on securities and financial services litigation, alternative investment recovery efforts, fiduciary litigation, government investigations, and complex business disputes. Nina’s disciplined, deliberate and aggressive approach to litigation seeks to maximize recovery while minimizing costs to her clients.  She approaches every case with the philosophy that preparation and zealous advocacy transcends all barriers to success.  Invoking lessons learned from combat deployments to the Middle East, Nina believes every battle can be won regardless of her opponent.

Prior to joining NBP, Nina served as a law clerk to the Hon. David A. Lowy of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, assisting him with legal research and the drafting of opinions.  Nina also served as a law clerk to the justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court for two years after graduating law school, assisting justices during high-profile criminal and civil trials

Before attending law school, Nina served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps for eight years where she deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the US Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  Nina was awarded two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals for her service during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

 

Performance

  • Represented investors in California state court action against national audit firm and fund administrator related to $800 million Ponzi scheme, resulting in substantial recoveries for our client group.
  • Represented investor groups asserting state and federal securities fraud claims against auditor, fund administrator, and traders in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania related to $100 million Ponzi scheme.
  • Worked alongside SEC Receiver in Federal District Court for the Central District of California to obtain eight-figure settlements from national audit firms, valuation firm, and corporate insiders on behalf of investors who were victims of a Ponzi scheme.
  • Successfully defended summary judgement motions in federal securities fraud case in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
  • Successfully defended breach of contract and tortious interference claims filed in United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico against a Georgia-based healthcare company.
  • Represented broker-dealers, registered representatives, and registered investment advisors in connection with FINRA examinations and SEC investigations.
  • Asserted defamation claims against law firm on behalf of high-profile financial services executive in New York state court, obtaining favorable resolution that absolved him of wrongdoing.
  • Represented investors asserting aiding and abetting fraud and breach of fiduciary claims against national audit and valuation firms in New York state court related to $1.8 billion fraud, obtaining an eight-figure settlement for aggrieved investors.
  • Represented investor groups asserting aiding and abetting fraud and breaches of fiduciary duty claims against the world’s largest bank providing clearing and prime brokerage services for a hedge fund operating a $100 million Ponzi scheme in New York state court.
  • Represented investors asserting claims against national audit firm, fund administrator, and corporate insiders in New York state court related to $3 billion fraud.
  • Represented hedge fund in prosecuting claims against insurer related to Fidelity Bond coverage dispute in Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Court of Appeal for Ontario.
  • Advised pharmaceutical company in connection with dispute related to $40 million Master Supply and Facility Construction Agreement.

 

Credentials

Nina graduated cum laude from the New England Law | Boston in 2015.  During law school, Nina was a Semi-Finalist in the National Tax Moot Court Competition in Clearwater, Florida and intern to the Justices at the Massachusetts Superior Court through the Honors Judicial Internship Program.

Nina is admitted to appear or has appeared pro hac vice in U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Third Circuit Court of Appeals, Federal District Court for the District of New Jersey, Massachusetts Superior Court, New York Supreme Court, California Superior Court, Colorado District Court, and South Dakota Circuit Court.

Nina was named a “Rising Star” by Massachusetts Super Lawyers from 2022-2024 and is a member of the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations.  Nina also worked as an adjunct professor teaching legal research and writing to first-year law students at New England Law | Boston from 2018-2021.
