Snapshot

Matthew is an associate with experience in commercial litigation, including bankruptcy and receivership matters.  Prior to working at NBP, Matthew gained practical experience arguing motions in state and federal courts throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  At NBP, Matthew has focused his practice on representing victims of sophisticated financial fraud.  Prior to attending law school, Matthew worked as a forensic litigation consultant where he provided expert forensic accounting and valuation services used by clients in both litigation matters and internal investigations.  Matthew’s former experience as a certified fraud examiner provides him with a unique perspective and approach on cases with complex financial backgrounds, as it allows him to work through the details of complicated financial instruments and fraudulent schemes as well as understand the preparation process and perspective of expert witnesses.

During law school, Matthew worked at the Securities and Exchange Commission as part of their Summer Honors Program and in the Financial Litigation Unit of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.  Prior to entering private practice, Matthew worked as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the Administrative Law Division under Attorney General Maura Healey.  As a Special Assistant Attorney General, Matthew worked to defend appeals of decisions made by state agencies, implement the Attorney General’s policy objectives and determine constitutionality of ballot initiatives.
