Performance

Patrick has been part of NBP teams that:

• Counseled a 105-member client group that lost over $200 million in a hedge fund fraud in a multi-party action against the fund’s auditor, administrator, managers, and others.
• Prosecuted claims on behalf of a 47-member client group comprised of individuals, family offices, and institutional investors against accounting and valuation firms that aided and abetted $1.2 billion hedge fund fraud.
• Advised a 25-member client group on civil enforcement, criminal, and receivership proceedings arising out of $500 million direct lending fraud.
• Won a six-day bankruptcy court trial to preserve a $20 million civil judgment against a debtor who fraudulently transferred, dissipated, and hid assets from creditors in a complex web of businesses and legal entities.
• Investigated and prosecuted claims on behalf of victims of pre-IPO stock fraud against alleged aiders and abettors of the scheme, and ultimately recovered over 100% of investment funds through multiple state and federal court actions.
• Recovered over 110% of investment funds for one of the largest victim groups of a $1.2 billion South Florida Ponzi scheme through multiple civil actions, federal bankruptcy proceedings, and the criminal restitution process.
• Defended the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in multiple cases stemming from the licensure of Medical Marijuana dispensaries under the recently enacted Medical Marijuana law.
• Successfully defended a Massachusetts-based defense contractor for violations federal export regulations.
• Prosecuted legal malpractice claims on behalf of a Massachusetts-based medical device company.

Credentials

Patrick is a 2011 graduate of Boston University School of Law and a member of the Massachusetts Bar.  While at BUSL, Patrick was awarded the Best Brief in the Edward C. Stone Moot Court Competition, and selected to represent BUSL at the 2011 Sutherland Cup Competition, a competition which he and his teammates won and were awarded Best Brief.  He also worked as a research assistant for visiting professor Elizabeth Nowicki, and as a clinician in the American Legislative Practice Clinic.  During law school, Patrick interned for Magistrate Judge Leo T. Sorokin and the United States Attorney’s Office, Civil Division.

Patrick received his B.A. in Political Science from Trinity College, where he was a member of the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society, an editor on the student newspaper, and a member of the football team.

Professional Activities/Affiliations

Patrick is admitted to practice in the courts of the Commonwealth of  Massachusetts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.  He also has advised clients on cases and/or appeared in the state and federal courts of California, Florida, New York, and Pennsylvania, as well as in AAA and FINRA proceedings.
